Start wherever you are. A name, a place, a decade, a family story that has never quite added up. Many of the most interesting investigations begin with almost nothing. Whatever you have is enough to have a useful conversation.
Once I understand your family's situation, I can give you a realistic picture of what records are likely to survive, what the research is likely to uncover, and whether I am the right person to take it on. I will tell you if I think the answer is simpler than you feared.
If it is a good fit, I will follow up with a simple written scope and a fixed price. If it is not — for any reason — I will tell you that too, and point you toward the best alternative I know. There is never any pressure to commit on the call.
In over 20 years of research, I have never found nothing. I may not find what you hoped for. But I always find something. And occasionally what I find changes everything.
